When the Amalgamated Transit Union International needed help strengthening the public engagement skills of the their local presidents across north America, they turned to LMC. We’ve trained union leaders from more than 100 ATU locals to tell their public transit stories to various transit stakeholders, including the media. The impact of this training has manifested in successful resolution to contract disputes, increased penalties for transit worker assaults, greater attention to transit worker safety, and increased and/or dedicated funding for public transit in jurisdictions across the continent. With LMC’s help, ATU locals in Canada and the U.S. are no longer just waiting for the media to call. They’re using technology and local media to tell their own stories.
For the second consecutive year, Lunch with Labor has won a first place award from the International Labor Communications Association. LMC partnered with ATU Local 1300 and Radio One’s WOLB to create, produce, write and host the talk radio show/podcast from 2016 until March of 2018. The program has won first place ILCA awards in 2017 and 2018. Check it out here.
